OK. When you watch vhs s-vhs it employees a thing called overscan..
This means the whole screen is used. In fact they send slightly more than
any normal tv will display. It just goes off the edges.

The TV out on the via at the moment it not full screen It has borders on the
left and right. Not a big deal, but not really comparable with an off the
shelf PVR.

Various cards can do proper full screen no borders tv out. But most are agp.

I am attempting to do exactly what your trying to achieve, make a small tivo
sized box tivo. I'm not going to post here until I'm finished with it
though.
