yes you need some hardware to do this, I would advise something like the Viom ...http://www.phaedrusltd.co.uk/system/index.html...which provides 16 inputs.

Paul Gordon has used this to provide a button controlled interface to his MP3 system so a single door push ( I assume you mean doorbell push?) shouldnt be a problem.

Alternatively Tony Butler butchered a x10 keyfob to provide an alert to a x10 chime device, the x10 signal could equally have been picked up by homeseer. If you search the archives for... Door Bells - Part II....you will find the thread.

Sorry if this one has been covered recently, I've been a bit missing
from the list of late.

I want to hook up a door push to Homeseer, which then does the
necessary alerting. I've looked at the X10 powerflash, but that seems
a bit of a waste of time (and money!) to go from button to X10, then
X10 back to Homeseer - even more so considering the run from the
Homeseer box to the door is < 10m.

So I guess I'm after some way of getting an external trigger into
Homeseer via a PC. I'm sure it's stupidly simple but I just can't
quite get my head around it. Would I need some sort of PCI
interfacing card?

Alex
