I hope so... I've asked Nick at SB about this.... he's promised to keep me in the loop.

Me as well.
But it's easier to smuggle box past SWMBO saying that it costs just £200 and then pay subscription two months later.
It seems that ReplayTV realized that so they are coming with the new line of boxes where hardware and service will be priced separately.
Do you think that we have any chance being pilot group or getting discount on bulk buy?

I don't think we do know that £1 = $1. It used to, but these days, I'm seeing far closer prices.

My guess is that the ReplayTV pricing will be based on the market competitors at the time of launch...

After all, a TiVo (albeit at TiVo2) costs $399, plus $250 for the lifetime service. So by comparison, the ReplayTV (which, AIUI includes the service) costs only $50 more... about 8% more.

On that basis, a ReplayTV_UK including service would cost maybe £450...

I'd be prepared to pay the extra £50 for the benefits of a ReplayTV over a TiVo.

Regards,

Mark

And we all know that we usually get 1£=1$. Unfortunatelly :-(.

Is it?

I'm surprised that you know the price for the UK ReplayTV, given that SB still haven't set it :-)

Yes, but price is higher...
When it's down to TiVo's price (box + subscription + turbonet = £500-600) then the choice is simple.

I looked at the ReplayTV site today. If they start distributing these
in Europe it's a no brainer...

1.No Subscription

2.Built-in Ethernet that allows you to a) Send recordings to friends
over the internet, b) if you have more than one ReplayTV box they
will 'talk' to each other, meaning that you can play a recording
that's stored on one box (say in the living room) over the LAN to one
in say the bedroom...

3. web interface allowing you to start/program recordings from
anywhere that has a net connection...

4. Skip ads...

5. DIGITAL audio out

6. Capacities from 40 hours to 320 hours

7. Store your digital photos and watch slide shows on television

... I think this box kicks Tivo in the backside...
