Thank you, but that's a bit too much for me at the moment. Particularely when everyone is trying to convince me to buy TiVo.
I am still resisting...

Nikola,

Lektropacks are the UK reseller. If you become a 'lektropacks member' for £10+VAT then you get a 10% discount.  The IR controller isn't shown on their website.  IIRC the matrix cost £399 + VAT and the IR was about £120 + VAT.

Kramer manufacture some excellent switches - so don't get carried away and get a 32x32 matrix!!!

Simon, I couldn't find any prices on that site.
Any link?

Mark,

I had a similar problem, but I've just bought a Kramer 5x4 AV 1U rackmount matrix switch to distribute AV round the house.  It has 5 AV inputs and 4 AV outputs.  Any input can be sent to any or all outputs.  I intend to use Keith's KAT5 modules to build a KAT5 'AV patch panel'.  The matrix switch selects the input/output, each output feeds a KAT5 module which is connected across multiple ports on the panel.   I can then select which outputs go to each room using the patch panel.  I've added a IR remote/RS232 controller to the matrix so I can select the source using a Pronto.
I'm not sure when I'll get it all working, since I'm still wiring the house :o(

Subject: [ukha_d] Simultaneous Video Distribution

After spending several months resisting, I am now looking at putting in some Cat5 to upgrade the whole house video which is at the moment based on several video senders.

Ideally I would like to distribute DVD, PC, Caller ID (overlay), CCTV and TiVo to all TV's in the house.  My original thinking was to use Keith's KAT5 modules, but from what I understand I can only send one source down at a time.  So I think what I really need is a combination of KAT5 modules to get everything to a central location, then re-distribute over Coax to each room on different UHF frequencies - presumably much like hotels do it ??

Am I thinking down the right route or should I stop now before wasting more money on things I don't need (again). If so does anyone have any experience of redistributing signals of Coax ?

If the costs are horrendous then how would I go about implementing an automatic switching KAT5 hub?

Thanks,

Mark
