The AWM2 should be fine for this application.

The LW10 seems to be a flaky beast in conjunction with mains halogens IME
with every mains halogen application I have tried having failed completely
on an LW10.  YMMV. It is also one of the uglier pieces of X10 kit.

The other alternative is the LD10/11 which works well with both mains and
low voltage halogen and provides dimming capabilities.
