I have the same issue, after a little investigation it would appear 
becasue teh PCMCIA in the 510 is 5v only, where as the new card is 
3.3 volt. 

If you look closley at a card that fits and the 3com card wou can see 
the lugs on either sid in the connector are slightly different 
heights.
