RE: OT Firewall for those in the Dark Ages of NET Access



If you get an SMC barricade for example, it has a built in printer port,
serial port, 4/8 port switch, and a WAN interface so you can:
- Use a dial up connection thru the serial port today
- Tomorrow get a cable modem/adsl/cable modem connection and stick that on
the WAN port instead
- Stick your printer on the network so all (1) of your PC's can use it

It has built in firewall software, dhcp, port frowarding etc -the usual
stuff & is easy to set up.
Draytek vigours are another option, though not sure if they have a serial
port version.

There are a number of routers around the 100 quid mark which should do the
job for you nicely.
