To be honest if you are doing one or two and want to keep the dust down I
would also go for the box template, drill and chisel, especially using a
SDS drill, cuts like a hot knife through butter.  If you are completely
gutting a room though just tape up the door, open the windows and go for it
with the box sinker, it's so quick and the end result is a perfectly square
hole.  The messy bit is the circular cutter it scraps away the wall and
creates as much dust as using a disc cutter.  I would certainly recommend
the channel chisel http://www.screwfix.com/shop_product.html?16724 it
creates nice clean channels and no dust, got no photos unfortunately
though.
