They connect to an amplifier/box-of-tricks thing! :D

Second assumption correct and, IMO, the best way to do it is using the window emitters, they also are hardwired back to the box.

TBH, if you’re not in a rush I would wait till Keith gets the IR return sorted on KAT5 and the switcher as this may well save you a small fortune by doing the two things in the one hit.

So, I put IR receivers in the room "somewhere", these are then connected to an Amplifier or splitter? Or both?

Would you connect it up to a splitter, which I assume would have enough emitters to control the AV equipment (are some hardwired? i.e. no emitter), then put the emitters over the "eye" of the equipment to be controlled?

Or do I put the IR receivers in leave the wires dangling in node 0 and wait for Mr Doxey to weave his magic?

Neil

If you are using the Xantech gear, just about anywhere Neil, the reception is great on the RX units. I can point the Pronto in the rough direction of the opposite wall from one receiver from outside the room and the IR is still received just fine. I would imagine that Mr Doxey has the problem pretty much sorted in that regard too! ;)

One thing to watch is interference as I was talking to Nigel about earlier.
