If Jason is asking what I think he is asking.......!

(Assuming you had normal people's wiring with the neutral and live at
the ceiling rose)

You could install an LD11 at the ceiling rose, completeley disconnecting
the physical light switch.

You would then *ONLY* have X10 control of the light in that room.

You could then use an RF receiver and some of the RF stick on wall
switches if you wanted.

Alternatively, you could replace the light switch with a momentary (the
clipsal ones are about 4 quid) and change the wiring to accomodate
that.... I don't think you actually need to rewire, just use the
existing wires in a different configuration (thats right isn't it Ken?)
