There is one big plus for the Nokia models (at
least
the older ones) and that is that they include a digital audio output.
(Coax)
Whilst ITVD only transmit stereo this way ( &
hence
Dolby Surround ) the quality through my AV setup is much better using this
than
the analogue stereo, possibly due to the cable distances involved
(yaKAT5candidate). I believe that there is not enough bandwidth to
ever go
above stereo as well as the commercial issues.
.. and one big minus ..The menu structure is
very slow
though and channel changing is painful. In fact this is one of the main
SWMBO
'issues' with the HA setup - that what used to be instantaneous is now
always delayed - I have to agree. X10 - IR - dual boxes, separate audio/AV
all
adds to the delay but the chief culprit is channel
changing.
BTW - anyone know what sort of distance you can run
coax
digital audio over before you start to hit problems - (I know one guy that
has
nearly 50m ! ) and how do the problems manifest themselves ? jitter ?
glitches
??
