RE: Fire proofing Node 0 ?

You could do a lot worse than to clad it in "Fermacell" instead. This is a
"structural" wallboard - a cross between MDF and plasterboard. It's strong
enough to hang kitchen cupboards on without "special" wallplugs and offers
fire resistance similar to plasterboard, depending on how you install it.

http://www.fermacell.co.uk/ is the URL but it wasn't working when I tried to
look this morning. http://www.fermacell.com if your foreign language skills
are up to it. If you get no joy I've got a contact name I can email you
privately.

I'm currently in the middle of having the house completely rewired and flood
wired with cat5 cables back to the old pantry cupboard (node0). This
cupboard is directly below the staircase landing (the intersection of the 3
staircases) and I'm a little concerned about the risk of fire in node0
causing problems with upstairs escape routes. I'm planning on cladding the
inside of node 0 with 1/2" chipboard to aid mounting of equipment etc. Any
ideas how I can also give at least some modicum of fire proofing as well ?
