RE: Pronto Monochrome Screens

I had a US model until one too many drops on the floor finally cracked the screen: (
Replaced with a UK model and I find the screen less responsive and less clear.
I did a bit of digging around to see if it was possible to get a replacement screen for the US model before I purchased the new one and it seems there are a number of variations on the pronto screen, some much clearer than others.  It's a matter of luck really which one you end up with.

Re: Pronto Pro - Having been used to the clarity of an iPaq screen, I was veryd isappointed when I saw the pro's screen.  Not a patch on the iPaq.
Granted, it is only a remote and not a PDA, so you don't need the same clarity perhaps, but still.....
I've got PDAWin and an IR blaster for the iPaq and pronto ccf files look so good on that, that I'm trying to source a cheap 2nd hand iPaq to use as a remote instead of the pronto!
Cheaper than a Pro at any rate, and more versatile to boot :-)

Just dug out my Pronto after a while in hibernation and I now remember how awful the contrast of the mono screen is. Are any of the other models any better ? (I know the colour one is). It's not even much better with the backlight on.
One of the SWMBO complaints last time was the 'but I can't see it without my specs' - it seems such a shame in this day of high contrast displays that they opted for these and I think the new versions are just the same. Someone should have done a super contrast screen upgrade or introduced a 'later years' friendly version.

BTW do we have an acronym for those who are naturally frightened or rejective of anything technical ?

TWHAT - Those who hate anything technical perhaps ?
