But is ADSL not contended?

My guess is that the best you could hope for is  1 x ADSL line being the
same effective speed as 2 single lines due to the contention as both will be
concurrently active.  Or does the fact that the lines are contended mean
something else?

If you used something like getright, you could download the file with 2
sessions - which would aggregate it accross
