Thanks very much... I now have it working with the same lead as I was using to connect the analog to the phono on the amp. But one little quirk ! when I use the red phono (the lead has no L/R marking) it works fine with Left/Right 2 speaker test. using the other (white) phono gives a rear left/right output on the SB speaker test.
It's OK for me as I just want high quality 96k stereo signal from the pc. I am very impressed with the sound quality of my MP3 tracks using this set-up.

IIRC you just use a normal 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable and use the left plug as
the SPFIF in on the amp, leaving the right unconnected.

Over a few meters it doesnt matter about impedance matching.
