RE: Multi Remote - Which one......

Just to throw a spanner in the works…

I’m about to put together a review, but need to finish tidying up the ccf first.

It is still very expensive, and the best ‘net price I’ve seen is £340, but have a look at the Marantz RC5200. It has a built in RF transmitter (that is said to work with Powermid receivers), larger ‘user’ screen area, and more hard buttons (13 plus a 4-way cursor pad). It may not sound like a massive difference, but with the Pronto I found I was always scrolling backwards and forwards between two panels – especially during Sky watching.

I also bought an RF-IR converter, the Philips one (£120, but a Powermid would be cheaper) as the Marantz unit is still on backorder, so I can now change Sky channels, and operate X-10 from anywhere in the house without laying any cables (my favourite way)

Think of it as a black and white pro, but with more buttons.

Tim

O.K.

I am going for RU940, 2MB then.

Pro is still a bit too expensive.

Anybody has that Home Cinema choice where it was advertised for £99 in Richer Sounds?

The RU890 (long since discontinued) was 1Mb, the RU940 is 2Mb and the
RU970 (ProntoPro) is 8Mb...
