TOSlink splitting

Keene electronics do a toslinnk splitter for a fiver.  Does anyone have any
experience of these or similar.

I am concerned that the signal quailty may be somewhat reduced by using one
of these.

What's this got to do with HA?

Well, I want to use the optical out on my Audiotron to get the best possible
signal.
My AV amp accepts optical, my multiroom amp does not.
I need to feed the optical out to both the AV amp and to a DAC to feed the
multiroom system.
I thought the cambridge audio DAC would do the job as it seemed to have both
analogue and optical digital outs on it, but having checked with Richer
sounds, it does not.
So I need either a splitter and this DAC or another DAC (that is still
available Ken!) which will give me optical out, or 2 x analouge outs for not
a lot of money.

I know DACs sometimes appear on ebay, but there's nothing suitable at the mo
& it could be months before something does turn up, so I will go with the CA
DAC if someone can confirm that an optical splitter will not adversely
affect the signal.

cheers,

Tony
