Smeg’s service side, Servevast, had a major fire about two weeks ago Tony and this wiped out virtually all UK stocks of spares and as things stand now, almost all orders are direct from Italy. I know, I’m waiting on parts too for customers!

However, if you call Tamsen at Servevast on 0870 447002 she will help you and resolve the problem if she can. ;)

At the moment I have a Smeg pyrolytic oven and the five burner SS hob in the house, what parts is it you need as I may have some?

The taking months to get spares is one of the things that we as service agents get most frustrated about as there is little we can do about it but we get it in the ear from the customers and not the people that should! L

On another note I have had a warning about LG spares and service in the past 12 hours…there are major problems with some political fallout in the industry so tread carefully if you’re looking at an LG washer, fridge or whatever.

Agree with Maytag, like smeg, though am p*ssed that it can take months to get spares (smeg hob playing up, parts 'on order' forever it seems.  Service co. said smeg spares do take a long time to come in)

Siemens stuff seems pretty good quality too IME,

Steer clear of Stoves ;) Belling is a better bet or the Smeg A1 or Opera range cookers as they are known.

Whirlpool's Yankee stuff is okay, but you're better going for a Maytag or one in disguise, like De Detriech or Smeg some others are the same cabinet re-badged, look carefully and you can see that they are the same.

Baumatic just plain avoid, spares are a pain to get and service limited.

Spookey - I had this conversation this afternoon with a colleague - he recommended which magazine - we are looking for kitchen appliances - specifically Range Cookers (Stoves) American style fridges (Whirpool) and ovens (Baumatic)

Any comments on the quality of these K ?

Or who do you recommend on the best value vs quality front for kitchen appliances

Cheers

Umar

Is there any magazine which makes reviews of fridges, washing machines, driers etc?

Something similar like What  Hi-Fi?

I plan to buy some new appliances, so I would like to check what's available on the marker, rather than spending days visiting stores.

Also, I would like to see reviews to verify what manufacturers claim is a true.

Nik
