RE: domestic appliances review - WHERE TO BUY FROM

Can I recommend allders?
They will price match web prices, same terms and conditions - a lot of places now won't do that, will only match to other high street shops.
I found a Maytag fridge on the web about 3-400 quid cheaper than allders.
Filled in an online price match request thingy & they said it would take 3-4d ays.
Sod that, phoned them up, gave them the URL, and within 1/2 an hr they got back to me and agreed to match the price.
At the time, Allders were running a no deposit, 0% finance option.  They said they couldn't do that on the price match.
I said I wanted to give em 1200 quid deposit, so they said 'okay then'.  Wasp repared to pay outright but what the hell, if I can leave my money in an a/c earning interest a bit longer then why not.....

Meanwhile, the web price match ppl got back to me, said yes to price but could not offer interest free.  I told them I'd put down a deposit of 1000 quid.  They still said no.  I told them there was then no advantage buying from them so I may as well go with the e-tailer if they didn't relent.  They still said no.

How dumb is that?  Anyway, goes to show that dealing with ppl face to face can yield better results.

I have no probs buying from the web - and indeed that where I do most of my shopping, but when spending the best part of 3 grand on a fridge, I want someone I can go and shout at if it goes horribly wrong....

Hasn't so far - was impressed when installation guy pointed out two minor problems (ice dispenser not fitting properly & something else I can't remember) instead of waiting for us to point them out & bits were replaced in a couple of days.  OTOH though, these problems _Should_ have been noticed before it left the shop.....

Anyway, a bit of a digression - top store, no affiliation, just satisfied customer.

Can I recommend http://www.freenet.ltd.uk? In no way am I affiliated with them, just a very satisfied customer who has brought an American style fridge and a range from them. Their customer service was second to none and their prices were the cheapest around!

Spookey - I had this conversation this afternoon with a colleague - he recommended which magazine - we are looking for kitchen appliances - specifically Range Cookers (Stoves) American style fridges (Whirpool) and ovens (Baumatic)

Any comments on the quality of these K ?

Or who do you recommend on the best value vs quality front for kitchen appliances

Cheers

Is there any magazine which makes reviews of fridges, washing machines, driers etc?

Something similar like What  Hi-Fi?

I plan to buy some new appliances, so I would like to check what's available on the marker, rather than spending days visiting stores.

Also, I would like to see reviews to verify what manufacturers claim is a true.

Nik
