If you give the UK Visonic office a call, they were really helpful in putting me in touch with the nearest supplier to me. Just had to pretend to be trade then !!!

I have had 1 false alarm now in total - which I have put down to one of the cats knocking a large vase off the dining room table. Yes still very pleased with the system, although still have the same reservations as before with only being able to control 7 devices on 1 house code, and not being able to put any logic behind it.

I think Scott mentioned that Visonic were talking about bringing out a new version with more features as well ?? There must also be some more X10 alarms out there....

Would be more than happy to talk to you in detail off list about my installation.

Probably not I guess unless in series, as otherwise link only broken if 2 PIRs activated.....

Hmm... if I got the bridge jobbie, then I have effectively turned it back into a wireless system...so I'm no better off than if I just go wireless completely.

Zone means sensor. The maximum resistance on the wired zone is 220 ohms - so probably doesn't help you much.

Battery life on the PowerMax sensors is around 7 years as an average.

There is no remote keypad availble for the PowerMax, so you would have to use the Keyfob.

Have you looked at something like the Napco Gemini which is a hybrid wired/wireless system which interfaces with HomeSeer. http://www.napcosecurity.com

Or I guess there is as you say Comfort, which many people on this list are using

hmm, the spec says 'zone', but I have a funny feeling that means sensor in installer speak.

Maybe Mark SJ can shed some light (he has one).

Thanks for this guys, looks like the kinda thing I'm after.

One thing I'm not sure on is the wired bit:

Is it one wired sensor or one wired ZONE?

If zone then gr8, as all downstairs PIRs (which I have put in the wires for) can be one zone.

I'm still in two minds about alarming upstairs and/or adding door/window contacts.

After all, why break in @ 1st floor level when it would be far less obvious @ ground level.

Similarly, any competent theif is going to spot door contacts & work around them, any 'chancer' will probably just smash their way in, so the PIR would get them anyway....

The review of this product is quite positive. The main problem I had b4 (apart >from because of car alarms or something down the road. Certainly no-one else had the same system I did......

Oh yeah, one final question:

I had a loan of a ladder ages ago, so I wired in a siren attached to the outside wall

I have no idea of what wires I used -how can I tell without a) getting a ladder again & physically inspecting it, or b) damaging either the siren, or myself? :)
