Tony,
Visonic do the Powermax which has 1 wired,
and
29 wireless zones, and has X10 capability (upto 8 controls I
think)

officially
I'd recommend you get an engineer to install, although I know one person
on
this list has bought this alarm through Gardiner Security stores and
self-installed it.
Hope that helps.

Alarming Thoughts
Guys,
I'm looking for some advice
here. My house isn't yet alarmed - though for all the burglars out
there,
it most definitely _is_, and we have a BIG DOG TOO!), so I'm looking
into
the various options. I had a bog standard wireless system at my last
pad, but wasn't that impressed with it, so have had all wiring put in
for
an alarm here, just not got alarm yet.
All wiring, that is,
except
for a remote keypad - doh! So I'm looking for something wired,
but
perhaps with a wireless remote, as main panel will be @ node 0 under the
stairs - not exactly SWMBO-friendly for arming/disarming :)
I've
just gotten into X10 (have some bits, but no definite use for them
yet. SWMBO cracked up when I used a keyfob remote to turn on a desk
lamp,
with my hand on'y inches from the actual lamp switch :-)) and see that,
if
I was happy with wireless again, I could get a PIR, horn etc & have
an
X10 alarm. But then I'm looking @ Comfort & that's the 'ultimate
home
control system' that does your alarm etc etc etc So is home
vision so
is home seer.
You see my problem - too many things on the market
claiming to solve all my problems....
so.....anyone got any
thoughts
on a relatively entry level alarm system, preferably wired, X10 would be
nice, expandable in the future a must. I don't really want mail boxes,
auto
dialling, robo dogs etc as current property doesn't warrant that (and
nosey
neighbours make gr8 guard dogs), just want something practical and
extensible.
I have already established that you cannot just dip your
toes into the X10 waters, as I discovered when I could no longer operate
my
overhead light with the on/off switch once I'd installed socket
rocket. SWMBO was _very_ happy with that - not :-) - but I don't want to
start down one 'ultimate solution' path and find I reach a dead
end......
Oh, and cheap would be good too!!! Maybe I should
just
get a standard wired alarm.....any
ideas?
cheers,
Tony
