This is a good point!
I see that AV source is connected to the switcher via SCART lead. That means that switcher cannot be in node 0, because I cannot put scart cable between living room and node 0.
 
 The source connected directly to the switcher via a scart would be a centrally (node zero) located VCR, STB, TiVo or whatever.
 
Any remote sources (eg. DVD, VCR in Lounge) would be connected to the switcher via a KAT5 TX module.
 
This arrangement allows you to hide away pieces of equipment that you don't need to fiddle with (but can control via IR) in a rack/cabinet at node zero.
