RE: Running out of patch panel space
Patch
panels starting at £30
Daniel
Well its finally
happened to me. I bought a 32 way patch pannel thinking that would
be
easily enough, and I need more space. Due to its location (in the
broom cubboard), and the custom blocks of wood/hinge assembly I
built its
not so easy to just bay another pannel and fit it.
Currently I've
got
sockets 24-32 all wired together connected to the BT master
socket.
This is so that I can easily batch other sockets as phone lines.
My
current plan is to free these all up for normal sockets and build/buy
some
sort of multiway adapter socket for the phone patches.
My first
thought
was to make a small patch pannel using Clipsal stuff:- 1 x 'Clipsal 6
Socket Switchplate, 2 Gang' 6 x 'Clipsal CAT5 Socket' However this
works
out on letsautomate.com to cost 54ukp, which is about the same price I
paid
for my 32 way patch pannel.
My next though was the B&Q 'Network
Patch Panel 12 Port With Bracket' At 30ukp, I'm not sure if this
includes
the Cat5 Keystone Jacks, at 2.50ukp each?
Does anyone no of a
cheapway of building/buy, a small patch pannel for this kind of
thing?
Thanks
Rob --
