Nick,
When you log into the w98 pc it should ask you for an username/password.

On the w2000
box
-Start/settings/controlpanel/usersandpasswords/advanced/advanced/users/a
ction/newuser
(maybe thats why you never found it :)
Now type that username/password into the box, uncheck "user must
change" and
check "never expires"
This basically creates an account for that w98 user on the w2000 box.
Now if you have share set up in the w2000 box, the win98 box will be able
to
see it (after typing in the username/password again maybe).

To set up a share drive on teh w2000 box, right click on the drive in win
explorer then
share/newshare, enter the sharename (eg. server_data) and a comment (eg
Main
server drive), the permissions, to set wether read/write/etc, you can
ignore
this for full access.

As with all this nonsense, make sure the box is running/is behind a firewll
if your lan is net connected.

Good luck... any probs mail again...

Lee.

----------------------------------

Does anyone on this list know how to connect Win98/95 PCs to a
Win2kPro PC on a LAN without getting something like Resource
\\Computername\IPC$ and requiring a password (and how this password
is set or removed). I've tried to best of my knowledge removing all
restrictions within Win2k but having gone round in circles all
evening I cannot think what else I can do. All I want to do is share
drives/folders on the Win2k PC across the network - surely it must be
possible!!??
Help VERY MUCH Appreciated!
Thanks
Nick
