It's
all speculation at the moment ... I'm sure I saw somewhere that it was
72pin EDO
SIMMs but if it is DIMMs then fine, not a problem. The memory is still
available
if it is SIMMs but it's not as cheap as DIMMs.
Personally it's not a problem either way ... I think I have some
32Mb
SIMMs in an old PC in the spare bedroom and a couple of 32Mb DIMMs in a
K6-2
266.
Phil
Wasnt SIMMS installed sideways?? eg inserted and pushed
to
the SIDE, as apposed to pushed DOWN, like DIMMS
SIMMs are keyed and have side springs...
DIMMs are keyed and have side clips...

I
think you are right but not 100% sure....the faq certainly seems to
indicate
that upgrading is add a dimm rather than replace. In fact it says
......
- Insert the DIMM card in a socket at an angle and push it down until it
locks into place. Note that the DIMM card is keyed to prevent it from
being inserted backwards. There are two side springs to hold the DIMM in
place. In the Point 510, the DIMM can be installed in either of the two
sockets.
the last sentence
pretty much says you can install one dimm. Of course you can still only
upgrade if it is a single 32mb installed rather than 2x
16mb.

I was
always under the impression that Dimms (the D being dual)
eliminated the need for 2 x Simms (S being single)
Or have I
been a crap hardware engineer !
(actually, dont answer
that)

bring it up to 56max :)
Nope ... It needs matched pairs of memory
modules which I believe are 72pin
SIMMs.
