Overclockers.co.uk

Abit KRA7 (with or without raid - I use scsi so I didn't bother with it)
Athlon XP 1500+
2x 256Mb (but to be honest 1x256 will be fine unless your editing big
DVI movies) Corsair 2700 DDR Ram
Alpha cooler (the first one on the page - the YS fan will be fine) don't
forget the thermal compound!
Go for any of the Geforce based cards - driver support is second to none

Run the whole thing with a bus speed of 166MHz and it will fly faster
than anything available off the shelf.

By the time you get to put it together I'll have already done mine so
will be able to help you with the best bios settings :)

Tim.

Subject: [ukha_d] DIY PC

I want to build my own PC, mainly because I've got a few bits lying
around that
can be reused (DVD, CD, NIC etc) that won't compromise the speed of my
new PC.
I'm not as technical as most of you, so is there a good site that help
me choose
which motherboard, processor & PSU?? I've already got about 120GB of
HD
to go
in there (2 x 60), and 512mb of PC133 RAM, but presumably if I want
quick then I
should go for DDR RAM instead? My rough spec is:

Coolermaster case
Athlon XP (or something equally as quick)
SB Platinum
graphics card (don't play games, so not too bothered about this, but
would need
one with a DVI output)
512MB RAM
DVD & CD-R plus all the usual other bits

Basically I'd want something quick by current standards, and easily
upgradeable.
I nearly went shopping at Scan Today last night, but reminded myself of
my last
experience with them and managed to resist. Might still try to get the
CM case
>from

Any recommendations? (or should I just buy a pre-built one?
www.bestpricecomputers.co.uk have some good systems)

Ta, Pete
