Depends on what you want to do with them but yes thay are of as much or more use than an EPOD in specific situations (battery life being the epods strong point). You will need the power supply but the rest of the extras are optional depending on what you want to do with them.
 
They can't be viewed as a PC replacement without the docking station and even with one they would be fairly rubbish by todays standards. But as a fixed position HA Touchscreen thay are excellent (and cheap when you comapre them to the purpose designed HA touchscreens).
 
There were some earlier posts by myself and others discussing the pros and cons of using the tablet mobile vs fixed etc
