DV has gigs of space on the tape, and has firewire...
.... however, if the firewire on a camcorder can be used for INPUT TO the
camera (as opposed to output from it), then the camera is classed by
Brussels as a videorecorder, and is charged duty at a much higher rate.
Because of this, most of the DV-cam manufacturers have deliberately
crippled the firewire interface to make it output only.... in many
cases, this is easily hackable, but it is another monkey to be careful
of if you're buying a camera.

Yeah...remember that one! :)
DV has gigs of space on a tape...it's digital...and has a
firewireinterface, sounds like great potential as a backup unit.
