Thats the avstar, not the IR extender.

I think there might be an order of magnitude difference in price :)

From the smart-e FAQ

"Q. How do I control the remote AV equipment?

 A. Using your standard Infrared handsets as normal. Avstar contains patent pending technology that allows the transmission of both IR and irDA data

 Q. Does that mean I can use Avstar with Cable Set Tops that have interactive IR handsets and keyboards?

 A. Yes."

Nice one Anbeyon.  Where did you get the device??  How much??

Does seem Very much like KAT5?

According to the website, it doesn't support IRDA, do you have any different
information?

Pity the device only does composite video :/
