Grrrr..bloody box sinker. Halfway through a complete
re-wire / new install today and the bloody drill
snapped off the arbour. Yes you can order new arbours,
but it was damn inconvenient trying to chisell
back-boxes out by hand.
To answer your question..it takes between 3 - 5
minutes to cut back-boxes into clinker block or brick
and under a minute into celcon block. My cutter is
still sharp 18 months on..and it has been hammered
(litterally) but I do use a pneumatic SDS plus drill
not a wimpy percussive mechanical thing

I'm about to help my brother-in-law embark on his
flood wiring project and
have a couple of question for those who use the Box
Sinker.

In screwfix they state it takes approx 3 mins to cut 1
box, is this
reasonable?

Is there any noticeable difference between cutting
into breeze block and
brick?

Anyone know the predicted life of the cutter before it
gets blunt? Can it
be replaced?
