Agreed. However this comes as no great surprise given what they have
done to the web interface. It is increasingly a postage stamp sized
window amid advertisements to read messages with "commercial
breaks"
after reading/posting/browsing!

I think you just got struck by Murphy's Laws of the Net, a 17 line
sig sccompanying a 6 line post goes a long way to offsetting the
saving you might otherwise have demonstrated <g>

It is quite simple to reconfigure an email client to default to plain
text but unfortunately, a lot of people are too bloody minded to do
so. (Not intended as a comment against UKHA peeps, just an
observation of the net in general) I do wish that Rich Text had been
killed in the latest round of email clients.

The only sure fix for mailing lists and Usenet seems to be clever
filtering software on the recieving server that bounces anything but
plain text, thus encouraging people to use it. IIRC, there used be be
an option to convert all messages to plain text in the account
information so you always received plain text. Yahoo removed this
when they took over the list :(

I forget what yahoo will do with this message - it is sent through
that tiny web interface they have hidden in this screen of adverts.

Mark.
