Modulation totally screws the image.
 
Ideally you need S-Video. With S-Video Windows Explorer is readable  at 800x600 but a lower resoultion will give clearer text unless you can up the font size to compensate.

Nope, you hit it on the head. TV out is very poor for text and normal computer screen activity. Try lowering the resolution to a max of 640 by 480 or even lower. Not very satisfactory all in I'm afraid.

Looking for a way to control a computer based MP3 player around the home, I thought about displaying the screen from a TV out card in the PC modulated onto the video distribution system.
I tried this from the TV out (composite) port on my Compaq laptop and the image was illegible on the TV screen.
Am I doing something wrong?  Has anybody done this with any success? If so, what did they use?
