Can anybody with a widescreen TV, DVD and Sky
Digibox, connected via an amp (rather than direct scarts) tell me how the
TV differentiates between an amorphic picture and a
full-screen?
If that question makes no sense; I will try and
explain. I have a normal 4:3 TV, and everything is set to 4:3 so I
get letterbox pictures. Easy.
If I get a widescreen TV, then I want the higher
resolution amorphic pictures. However, as all video runs through the amp,
the widescreen signal on pin-8 (I think it is pin-8) will not make it to
the TV. So how does the TV's widescreen autoswitch tell the
difference between amorphic and full-screen?
I expect the answer to be: It can't, but I will ask
the question anyway. If it is going to be a manual operation, then
this is yet another thing to confuse SHMBO. Doh.
