Good Question.

What I would do in such a case is simple: I would tell the owner personally
as soon as I found the problem, and personally wouldn't exploit it, because
I know the fragility of the market in the UK. I would not publicise the
problem until it was resolved, primarily for "nar ne nar"
piss-taking
afterwards, and to ensure someone of looser morals on the subject didn't
leap in with both feet.

*but* if someone off-list encountered the error price at the same time, and
placed an order in good faith, I'm afraid I would expect the site to honour
the order. And I would have to say, if they "did a kodak" it
would dent my
opinion of these guys.

Remember that none of the emails flying about were saying "quick get
in,
they have made a mistake but will have to honour it". in every case I
saw,
it was "a good deal".

Ian.

A question to the group, let us say, one the group's favourites such as
Let's Automate (chosen also for the Christmas closing times which could
have
made the error available for an extended period similar to that of Kodak's
secondary issue), were in the same position as Kodak of facing a potential
(quoting from various news pages) £2.3 million bill for a mistake on his
site? Would everybody be so keen to force his hand?

Mark.
