TFT screens traditionally had an update time roughly ten time that of a
CRT. This means it takes 10 times longer to turn on a pixel and turn one
off. So what you got was a snail trail with the image. Now days the TFT
technology is a lot faster in a good quality monitor, I thing the ratio
is about 1.5 times slower compared to 10. I have a Philips 150X 15"
TFT
and I love it, plays games fine and DVD's fine, it is a wonderful
monitor and I would not go back to a CRT (I have not got any room on my
desk for starters).

Some of the cheaper monitors may use last years technology and could be
slower.

Can one of you gamers give me a quick "for Dummies" explanation
of why
TFT screens aren't best suited for playing games... (or if they are,
reassure me).

My boss's son wants to buy a 19" TFT screen to impress his mates, but
his main appliation is DirectX games...
