Are there Pronto Codes for IRDA Set top boxes ?
Didnt someone on the HV list have a way of converting Pronto to HV.

Even if it cant learn it, it may be able to transmit it when told exactly
what to so.

Haven't checked but I cannot see HV being IRDA literate.

I still haven't given up completely but am not doing anything about it
either.

Maybe when I have some more time and the current projects are completed.

Not much progress with the IRDA.

I dont believe it will be possible to build a reliable combined repeater.

The IRDA receiver responds to normal IR remotes as well, but outputs the
modulated signal not the demodulated signal like the TSOP1838 does.

The reception range of the TSOP is superb. Any angle and in my house I cant
get far enough away for it not to pick up. The IRDA receiver is extremely
short range and at only 6 feet will just about receive if the remote is
pointed DIRECTLY at it.

The problem is with RECEIVING the IRDA signal as it was really only
designed
for short range and I havent been able to find out what receiver is used in
the IRDA settop boxes.

At the end of the day, I cnt guarantee that my IR repeater will function
perfectly with all equipment and I dont know of any that are (sure someone
will correct me if I am wrong). What I am aiming for is a repeater that is
99.99999999% reliable and will work with 99% of equipment.

One possible workround it this...
Pick an unused "Standard Code" from Homevision, (there are loads
that arent
used on UK kit so it shouldnt clash but will be found on most universal
remotes. Create actions within Homevision to send learned IRDA codes on
receipt of the standard code chosen.

<PSUEDO CODE>
If <SomeYankIRCode_Button1> received then
Transmit IRCode <IRDA_Button1>
End If

<PSUEDO CODE>

(I dont know if HomeVision can successfully learn IRDA as I havent got the
means to test the transmissions but I am sure others have.)

The KAT5 IR repeater can then relay the IR code from the handset to
HomeVision (the switcher will have inputs/outputs for IR signals to be sent
from/to HV). Homevision interprets the received command and sends the
required code(s) to the IRDA kit.

I dont know if that will definately work but it should be possible IF
Homevision will learn IRDA.
