Bill,=20

I retro fitted my house with X10 Din rail modules when getting the house
rewired. I have 3 locations for 12 Dim Modules (=A3360 + VAT). Well worth
the money. I have one or two CAT5 runs to each room which was (and is
one year later) sufficient for my needs, not all of them are terminated
yet. But If could afford it I would go for 2-3 in each corner of the
room. Depends on ease of access and as you are a self build then access
is simple.=20
We only have one TV and SWMBO states that that will always be the
case.(When the last TV broke she said "I see this as an opportunity to
live without a TV for a while", I said "Bugger that! I see this
as an
opportunity to get a 32inch Widescreen 100HZ" - I won). We listen to
radio when in other parts of the house so I have went along the route of
whole house audio and am in the process of installing one of the
whispertouch volume controls this weekend (I hope!). Horses for courses,
so I can't help on the distributed TV - others on this list will give
great advice.=20
I also fitted a Comfort Alarm system which is super - no contest as my
best HA buy. If you have X10 control in the house then go for a Comfort
alarm or at least pull the cable required for it. I installed my cable
during the rewire and installed the alarm 8 months later.=20
Money as always is the problem and I'm sure that your HA budget will get
devoured by something else but AT LEAST cable as much as you can because
a blanking plate costs nothing which a retro fit costs much more!!

Have fun :-)
