I had NTL cable installed on December 13th

The *only* thing that wasn't quite as I expected was that I was led to
believe a B.T. engineer was going to show up first to decomission my Home
Highway, followed shortly thereafter by the NTL engineers to install the
new
cable. - The B.T. guy didn't (and never has) show(n)up.

The NTL guys performed their installation without any problems and gave me
a
demo of the Television service and the menu system. The phone line was also
working at this point, but my old BT number had not yet been migrated to
it.

I received a single STB, which lives next to the telly, there is also a
small wallbox on the outside of the house, another small wallbox on the
wall
in the cellar, where the TV and phone service are split, and the new phone
,aster socket is located next to this. I had to set up the ethernet
connection to the box myself (which was as I elected when I ordered the
service), which simply meant patching in a cat5 cable from the STB back to
my router in the cellar. Installing and configuring the ethernet connection
was a piece of p*ss, and I was online in about 10 minutes.

My old number was not migrated for about another 24 hours, and this
(according to NTL) was due to B.T. screwing it up. (well, they would say
that wouldn't they!)

Since then, I have had no technical problems whatsoever. The phone is
working perfectly (albeit without caller ID), and I have had the same IP
address ever since.

I am expecting to only pay a single DD for all the services, although as
less than a month has passed since installation, I haven't actually paid
them anything yet (apart from an installation fee, which I paid by Visa
when
I ordered).

Apart from the Caller-ID issue, I've no cause for complaint so far... The
engineers even left me an NTL hat!!
