Thanks Gareth, I've tried both the sitecom xp
driver and zcom XI750 driver, neither of the utils work under XP....AH
well,
maybe I should leave it alone while it's working :-) (apart from
WEP)
I really want an access point now
though....I'm
tempted by the Linksys WAP/router/switch (w11s4-or something like
that!)

I'm using WinRoute on my server - so can't use XP yet. And Im not
having much joy with IP routing - it all seems to break when using the
wireless. The ISDN TA is on the same box, but when going in via the WLAN,
NAT
fails. ICMP works tho - spooky ! I also cant get to any of the others
servers
on my local network. The WLAN is on it's own subnet, so I know ive set that
up
correctly. Laptop runs XP but you still need to run the sitecom/zcom util
program.
Not used WEP
yet..
I did use the zcom software, yes.. No
problems with the USB - are you using the XI750 drivers, not Xi700 ?

Got myself a USB and PCMCIA adaptor
yesterday :-) working very well :-D
Put the USB adaptor on a Client PC on my ICS
network...used XP's bridging to bridge it to my LAN card...now I can surf
'net, share drives etc from my lappy :-) COOL! Just a pity the batteries
dont last more than about an hour in my lappy! By the way £65 for USB
adaptor and £55 for PCMCIA comes to £120! Was I ripped off, or can't you
add
up ;-) The
only thing I'm having trouble with is the WEP keys...everytime i try to set
up
with encryption the connection dies :-( Also did you manage to get
the
z-com utility software working for the USB device? won't run on mine, I
read
in the documetation that you should use windows own wireless setup util on
XP. Neil ----- Original Message -----

Well, I bought 2 x PC Cards, and 1
x
PCI Adaptor (for the server) from PC World.
This morning I took back 1 x pc
card and the pci adaptor - the pci adaptor was causing all sorts of
problems,
including locking up the system, etc. I've now swapped for a USB one and
works
fine (and saved a tenner) - this was on a Win2K server and Win XP server.
Win
XP refused to even acknowledge anything was in the pci adaptor.
I have these running in
peer-peer mode, and , next to each other, getting 450k/sec - not bad at
all.
So the
pc
card and usb together was £110 !
