Checking the sony website it has DV out only.  This means that he should be
able to "Capture" the movie via the firewire port using most
software, but
he will not be able to save back onto the tape digitally (the only option
would be to save an analogue signal back to the camcorder via the s-video
or
composite cables (and audio cables if required).

I bought a PC9 whilst in Greece, although not being supported by Premier it
works fine for both DV in and out.

I doubt the fact that it isn't mini-dv will effect they software in any
way.

It has a firewire port.  Anyone know if it will work with all the usual
video editing software for mini-DV?
