TiVo subscription ?

Ok, I managed to get a TiVo today from Powerhouse for =A3199 (after=20
much arguing with the salesdroid who said "Sky have told us they
are=20
=A3300 and thats what we sell them at" - duh ? since when do Sky=20
dictate the pricing of a Thomson TiVo box ?)

So anyway, now I need to sort out my subscription, and i'm trying to=20
work out if I should go for the =A3200 lifetime, or the =A310 per month.

I'm very aware of how quickly technology moves, and i've also heard=20
that the subscription is tied to the box, so should I knacker the=20
box up (read : hacking), then my =A3200 is up the swanny, or is this=20
not the case.

Any advice would be helpful, as I am planning on hooking it up=20
tommorow.
