Dont have a Kodak but the temperature error sounds familiar.

One of my old Nokia phones used to say it was fully charged after about 10 minutes when I knew it needed an hour. This always happened when it was very flat and the phone was cold and I was using the car charger.

disconnecting it and reconnecting restored normal operation.

Alan,

I had 4 cameras and had the same problem with all of them.  I sorted it by:

Charging for 2 hours, keeping an eye to ensure the green light does NOT come on within the two hours, (if this happens lift the camera, and replace on the dock)
Use the camera with the screen on, and flash, and keep snapping till the batts are flat, and the camera turns off.
Repeat step 1.

This SHOULD fix your problem.  Like I said, it worked for all mine.

The red flashing light means:

Battery Pack is installed incorrectly.

Reinstall the Battery Pack (Installing the Battery Pack in the Camera).

Incorrect battery type

Charge only a rechargeable battery.

The Battery Pack or connector pins are damaged.

Check for damage.

The camera and Battery Pack have been exposed to very high or low temperatures.

Slowly return the camera and Battery Pack to room temperature.

The EASYSHARE Camera Dock insert not properly installed.

Insert the Dock insert correctly (Installing the Dock Insert).

I found that its usually the last one.  Try lifting and re-seating.  You could also try removing and reinserting the battery pack.
HTH
