And lo, it came to pass that Tony recalled the golden rule of KISS -
sod this sticking things to the back of the chimer/bolting on the
plug/squeezing the plug pins into the chimer - I just shortened the
lead so that the plug is tight against the chime - simple, cost
effective, no dangling wires!

Sometimes I think it's too easy to go in search of a
complicated/expensive/clever solution, when the simple ones will
suffice!
