It's not quite what you want, but this shows that CAT5 can be used
for audio

It's an interesting site if you want to save a few quid on hi-fi
cables by making your own. I may try it some time. I just got the
Russ Andrews cable catalogue. Some frightening prices. Some cables
cost more than all my AV equipment, plus my car and motorbike!
