Re: OT: ADSL

Title: OT: ADSL
OK then, thanks for the advise, one slight problem - solwise have no stocks - they're expecting some of the switch less unit in this week, but it'll be a month before the BI unit will be in stock.  Seems a much better unit than the other 'cheap' one.  How long does it take the set-up of the exchange take?  I might just buy the ordinary 6000EV unit and get a switch of ebay later.

They were doing an 8 port switch and 6000EV for the same price as a 6000BI.  I'd already ordered mine so didn't change - besides I have a 24 port 100/10 hub.  The only reason I went for a switch was so that I had one!!!

I don't know if the LinkSys WAPs broadcast all traffic over the airwaves, but putting it on a switch should mean that it will only broadcast stuff that is destined for it... I may be wrong here - someone please correct me if I am.

Given that the 6000BI isn't in stock, I'd quite happily have gone for the 6000EV and got a switch later if I felt I needed it.

I don't know how good Seg's offerings are but there's an AR-601 for 139+VAT and a ZyXEL Prestige 642R/643/645 from around 199+VAT.

I personally reckon the Asus at 139 inc VAT is a bargain if you already have some hub.
