There used to be humidity stats available from electrical
wholesalers that you could add to the bathroom fan perhaps at the side of
it
and then you can have best of both worlds, i.e, shower or bath would cause
fan to come on but other visits to bathroom shouldn't depending on how it
is
set.

I am going back a long while but I used to install these in kitchens
where customers had damp problems, you could also at one time get the fans
with the stat built in.
