OK... I dug some meths out of the garage and cleaned the contacts with that and that seems to have solved the problem even though the contacts looked clean.

Any ideas on why a Pronto would suddenly stop charging?
 
It's not the rechargeable battery or the charging station as I have a second Pronto and I put the rechargeable battery into that to try it and that works fine on the charging station.
 
I could swap the Prontos over of course but the "2nd" one is the one that Edward swiped off the table and it doesn't respond to presses so well!
