How about running the serial from the PC over cat5 to the RedRat. Should be
OK unless you have a really long run to do.

Are there any products that will enable me to send IR over cat5.
I'm thinking about buying a RedRat and controlling a skybox, video
etc but have the problem of the PC being in a different room to the
AV equipment. Also must start justifying to the better half why we
had the house wired with cat5.
