To be honest, I didn't consider it! If it's just sitting in a space that
is open and dry I wouldn't think so. PITW, I had three in the loft
without casings for a year or so and one in a cavity wall behind a
blanking plate, none were cased as they could not be reached without
going looking for them and they were all fine. I would say that they
were as safe as a junction box or similar and, have seen some of the
things that sparkies do! :-)
