don't know if this was mentioned earlier but there is a new patch for the
ddar at http://empeg.dyndns.org/receiver/Feb_2002/
which allows line level
volume control, webserver applet (http://ddar/receiver.html) and now
that
applet can control the DDAR ( this is the new bit ). It also seems to be
stable which is a plus!!

I havn't figured out how to do TCP remote control from outside the applet,
but it can't be that hard now it has a tcp control server on the DDAR. Any
one have any pointers on this?

"Finally, there's a really cool extension that someone put together.
I'm not
sure if it's for public distribution yet, so I'll just post the obligitory
teaser screenshot here. Basically, he wrote a Rio-side webserver that sends
a very simple java applet back to the browser. This applet can then access
certain data streams patched out of the kernel, and can be used to remotely
see what's happening on your Rio, and even to control it from your
computer.
Very nifty. "

Note the "even control it from your computer" bit :)

Of course, it may never materialise, but there's always hope... Now with
all those Fujitsu tablets shortly to be flying around, centrally and
locally
controlled whole house audio (well, MP3) moves ever closer (now if only
you'd ordered four Rio Receivers/DDARs instead of the one)
